The emphasis of Redwood Stud's (formerly Redwood Hanoverians) breeding programme is to breed horses that display superb temperaments and trainability, coupled with correct conformation, beauty and athleticism.

With these ideals firmly entrenched, we have established a small stud dedicated to producing horses bred specifically to excel in dressage.

Our horses are raised in pasture improved paddocks on the rich black soil of the Darling Downs, Queensland. Their paddock diets are supplemented with the appropriate nutritionaly balanced hard-feed to ensure optimum health, growth and development. All our horses are wormed and vaccinated along with having their teeth and hooves maintained on a regular basis.

As we only aim to breed a maximum of 4 foals a year we are able to ensure all our youngsters receive the attention and handling necessary to set them on the correct path to being a happy, well-mannered and trainable individual.

The name "Redwood" was chosen in honour of its association wtih Kirstine's maiden name of Egan. The Egan clan seat is Redwood Castle at Lorrha in Co. Tipperary, near the north-east corner of Lough Derg and the town of Portumna, Ireland. This fine castle was originally built about 1210 and in recent times has been carefully restored by Michael J Egan from Castlebar, Co Mayo.

Our aim is that the name Redwood will also be synonymous with quality dressage horses!

Dancier

2002 Black 166cm Hanoverian

Sire: De Niro by Donnerhall Dam: St. Pr. St. Lacarna by Lancier

Performance Test Scores: Overall score 142.17/1st. Dressage Score 158.46/1st. Jumping score 103.44/19th.

Dancier received the following breakdown at his performance test: 8 character, 9 temperament, 9 willingness, 8 conformation, 10 trot, 9.5 canter, 9.2 walk, 9.3 rideability and 6.6 jumping ability. Dancier also went on to excel at the World Young Horse Championships.

Dancier was also proclaimed Best Hanoverian Stallion in 2002.

Rotspon

1995 Black 168cm Hanoverian

Sire: Rubinstein by Rosenkavalier Dam: St. Pr. St. Antalia by Argentan

Performance Test Scores: Overall score 145.67/1st of 38. Dressage score 148.82/1st. Jumping 118.74/7th.

Rotspon went on to become Champion of the Stallion Performance Testing 1998 with a rideability score of 9.5.

Rotspon has gone on to create his own dynasty. He is one of the State Stud's most popular stallions and has produced 17 licensed sons and 134 State Premium mares. His FN breeding value is 140 for dressage, which puts him into the top 5%

Rotspon is an impressive horse with great rideability, outstanding temperament, movement and a high aptitude for dressage.

Londonderry

1995 Chestnut 168cm Hanoverian

Sire: Lauries Crusader xx by Welsh Pageant

Dam: Windsor Queen by Warkant

Performance Test Scores: Overall score 121.57/5th. Dressage 134.56/3rd. Jumping 88.91/25th

Londonderry was Champion of the Stallion Licensing 1997, winner of the 4 Year Old Stallion Championship at the Bundeschamptionate in 1999 and has competed successfully up to Intermediaire I level. He is the sire of 31 licensed sons and 150 State Premium Mares. His FN breeding value is 145 for dressage, which puts him into the top 5%.

Amongst others he is the sire of 2006 Bundeschampionate winner, Locksley II as well as record breaking auction stallions Londontime and Lemony's Nicket.

Fishermans Friend

1997 Brown 169cm Hanoverian

Sire: Fabriano by Wendulan Dam: Penny Lane by Pik Solo

Performance Test Scores: Overall score 124.08/6th of 45. Dressage score 127.11/4th. Jumping score: 112.64/11th.

Type and expression, combined with 3 sensational paces are the main characteristics that this well-shaped, elegant stallion possesses in abudance and which he passes to his offspring.

Fishermans Friend is a member of the Australian Dressage Squad and is competitive at National level in Grand Prix He also passes on his superb jumping technique and ability to his offspring with several Grand Prix showjumpers in Europe being by Fishermans Friend.

2001 Chestnut 16.2hh Hanoverian Elite Mare

Dam: Remi Galliano by Graf Landau

By one of our favourite stallions, Londonderry, Remi London Belle was purchased by Redwood Hanoverians as a breeding mare and competition mount.

Remi London Belle won Champion yearling filly at the AWHA Young Horse Show in 2003 and Chamption Yearling and Reserve Supreme Champion at the AWHA Gala Show in the same year. She successfully passed her Hanoverian Mare Performance Test in 2005 with a score of 9 for rideability.

Not only is Remi London Belle stunningly beautiful, she has a delightful personality, fantastic work ethic and three stunning paces - a wonderful mare to be around and own.

Remi London Belle is currently being campaigned by FEI rider and coach, Karen Crommelin on behalf of Redwood Stud. In 2012 we anticipate Remi London Belle will be competing Advanced/Prix St George. In 2013 she will be campaigned by her owner Kirstine Phillips.

During the non-competition season here in Qld (summer break) we plan to continue breeding from Remi London Belle via embryo transfer. We currently have a stunning Dancier filly from her growing up in the paddocks at Redwood and eagerly awaiting to see if our recip mare is carrying London Belle's Rotspon foal!

Redwood London Affair

Dam: EM Remi Fatal Attraction by Fabriano

We are very excited to be including this stunning young filly into our broodmare band.

Her dam, Remi Fatal Attraction, is by Fabriano, a stallion with the good looks and charm of his Absatz heritage, a good wither and croup along with rhythmical and flowing paces and excellent engagement of the hindquarters. London Affair's grand-dam is the wonderful performance mare Elite Mare Remi World Vision, by Wolkenstein II, who has won dressage championships at every level through to and including PSG, at either State and National level and been a member of the Qld State Dressage Squad.

London Affair is the result of several generations of selective breeding aimed at producing a top level performance or breeding prospect. With her athleticism, grace, three stunning paces and affectionate nature we couldn't wait to breed with her to see what she will produce. Her classification and performance testing with the HHSA will now be postphoned until after her foal is weaned in 2013.

Elite Romance

Elite Romance is the perfect blending of the elegance and refinement of her Thoroughbred mother coupled with the movement and athletic ability of her sire Rotspon. It is also easy to identify Rubenstein characteristics when you look at this beautiful mare. With parents like hers, Romance's temperment couldn't be anything but superb, which makes her a delight to be around.

Romance will be bred to the Hanoverian stallion Dancier for a 2012 foal.

Al Shama Sihira

The pedigree of this mare is a "who's who" of Egyptian Arabian breeding - Ansata Halim Shah, Hanan, Jamill, Imperial Madheen, Ansata Nile Mist and Hadban Enzahi and like her forebears this mare is true to type with super conformation, movement and temperament. Perfect to combine with the power and athleticism of the right warmblood stallion when breeding Arabian Warmbloods.

This amazing individual is everything we could have hoped for when breeding this cross - athletic, beautiful temperament, three stunning paces and looks that would not be out of place in any Royal Show hack ring. We were so thrilled with Danciera that we immediately repeated the cross, only to have the recip mare resorb the embryo! Danciera is now a tall, well grown and very beautiful yearling who will be retained by Redwood as Kirstine's future dressage mount/breeding prospect.

After some discussion, and despite quite a bit of interest in him, the decision has been made and Redwood Faramir is a keeper! We've been so happy with him and even more so after watching how he has come on with his training. He is now home for a spell before going to Victoria Welch to further his training after which Kirsty will take over the ride. In the meantime Kirsty will continue to ride Argentille Germaine before also taking over the ride on Remi London Belle in 2013. The only downside is that in order to keep the taxman happy we have had to choose another of our horses to sell. Soon to be offered for sale will be Redwood London Affair, a black 3 year old filly by Londonderry. We plan to send her back to the breaker for a refresher and then put her into work before marketing her. Watch this space!

We have decided to give ourselves an early Christmas present and welcome the Hanoverian mare Elite Romance to Redwood. Elite Romance is by Rotspon and out of Blazen Billie xx.

Blazen Billie xx is one of our former broodmares who is unable to be bred from anymore and was sadly retired to the "retiree" paddock here at Redwood. Billie has previously had 4 Rotspon siblings - Arnage Razzle Dazzle, Elite Rosendahl, Elite Romance and Redwood Rockabilly. We were devastated after the difficult birthing of Rockabilly, when it was discovered Billie could no longer be bred and we wouldn't have her lines in our breeding programme, so it is with much excitement and gratitude that we thank our dear friends Peter and Karen Crommelin at Elite Warmbloods for this wonderful opportunity!

Elite Romance will be bred to Dancier (De Niro) in the not to distant future before being presented for her performance testing in Feb/March 2012, after which she will joining the broodmare band here at Redwood.

Welcome to our new website! Redwood Stud was formerly known as "Redwood Hanoverians" but we felt a name change was in order to reflect the more universal direction our stud is taking in it's breeding programme. In our prior breeding years we had bred Arabians, utilising some of the finest bloodlines in the world, and it has always been an ambition that we incorporate our Arabians into our current warmblood breeding programme. Thus, this breeding season we will be using our own home-bred Al Shama Sihira, a grandaughter of the legendary Salaa El Dine, and breeding her to the Oldenburg stallion Sandrels to produce our first Arabian Warmblood.

In the coming years you may see us using a variety of different studbook stallions over both our Hanoverian and non-Hanoverian mares but the emphasis will remain the same - to breed horses that display superb temperaments and trainability, coupled with correct conformation, beauty and athleticism.

We are thrilled to announce that Redwood Rockabilly (Rotspon x Blazen Billie xx) has been purchased by Victoria Bateman and her daughter Kaitlin Colless of Sevenoaks Farm.

Rocky will be one of Kaitlin's future dressage mounts and we look forward to seeing them out and about in Young Horse classes in 2012.

Argentille Germaine

Kindly leased to us as a schoolmaster for Kirstine by good friend and coach, Karen Crommelin, Germaine is a 17hh Australian warmblood mare by Gullit (Imp/Exp) out of Copernicus mare.

Germaine (pictured top right) previously competed up to advanced with many wins and championships up to that level. In 2006 she was a member of the Queensland State Dressage Squad. She has become a dearly loved member of our family and is currently teaching Kirsty the ropes as they are compete medium with a view to experiencing advanced later in 2012.

Perf. EM. Remi London Belle

Owned by Redwood Stud, this 16.2hh stunning chestnut mare also features in our breeding programme with the use of embryo transfer.

Remi London Belle (pictured middle right) is currently being campaigned by FEI rider and coach, Karen Crommelin on behalf of Redwood Stud. In 2012 we anticipate Remi London Belle will be competing Advanced/Prix St George. In 2013 she will be campaigned by her owner Kirstine Phillips.

Redwood Faramir

The youngest on the team and the first of our homebred horses to enter the competition arena, Redwood Faramir is by Fishermans Friend and out of the Elite Mare Remi Pinup Girl (Prince Noir).

Redwood Faramir (pictured bottom right) will be campaigned on our behalf by the talented Victoria Welch of Beechwood Stud.
